ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?
Maybe you have found yourself drawn to the Church and the sacraments. Maybe you were baptized in the Catholic Church but never made your First Communion or were never Confirmed, or maybe you know someone who is interested in becoming a Catholic. Our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) might be just what you are looking for. The program is designed to help you grow in your knowledge and love of Jesus Christ and His Church. We will be starting this year’s program in September which will culminate at next year’s Easter Vigil. If you have any questions or are interested, please call Janet Hickey @ 781-718-4684.

Thrift shop
The Holy Family Thrift Store is now permanently closed and is no longer accepting clothing donations. Please do not leave items outside the building. We appreciate your help in this matter. Thank you.

We have come to the conclusion of a lovely enterprise, dedicated to the helping of others, Holy Family’s Thrift Shop. Our dear sister, Flo Caron, who for decades has managed the Thrift Shop, has reached the point of being unable to carry on. In fact she is presently hospitalized and I recommend her to your prayers. Moreover, the use and demand for its services has declined in the latter years. Perhaps this is true because the needs of those seeking used clothing at reasonable prices can be met by nearby programs like the Salvation Army and Goodwill which offer a wider selection. So, having consulted with the staff, I have decided to close the Thrift Shop. The inventory will be made available at reduced prices in the near future. More information will be forthcoming soon. For those folks who have not yet attended this program, we will offer 2 sessions next Fall. LOWER CHURCH

LOWER CHURCH RESTORATION

I have some good news. We have signed an architect for a scope of work for the restoration of the Lower Church. We will receive about $165,000 of insurance money for its repair. We will seek bids soon. We will focus on keeping costs down because we must look to savings not only to make up what that insurance money won’t cover, but we have other projects that must be attended to.

REPAIR OF THE TOWER AND OUR LADY’S SHRINE

Essential repairs will be required for the masonry of the tower and the Shrine of the Blessed Mother in front of the Church. This will be the third time in twenty years that we have had to face the significant fragility of masonry. Moreover there has been water damage to the interior walls of the tower and that must be faced. This water damage came from those extreme storms which we experienced this Spring. We are looking at a cost of more than $100,000 for this repair work to the tower. We must husband our savings: meeting these expenses but still having money for more “rainy days”.

CATCH BASINS AND ROOFS

Just so that you know: we have done work on catch basins on the property some of which get a great deal of stress from traffic. See the work over by the CCD Office. We just finished a survey of the roofs of the school, rectory and Church; have done some small repairs and have to do more. But all in all that aspect of our buildings is secure. The property is in good shape but such quality comes from vigilance and upkeep; which costs. So, thanks for your loving support and for your vibrant faith.
