God is very good to us: in November I reported to you that our financial situation is stable. Now, in January, we must look toward our Grand Annual Collection (GAC) because, as you know, your continued generosity in both the weekly Offertory and the Grand Annual keeps us fiscally healthy.
More than 50 years ago a Belgian priest, Fr. Lucien Diess, gave the Church a song with this advice: “Keep in mind that Jesus Christ has died for us and is risen from the dead. He is our saving Lord, He is joy for all ages!”
We have been hearing Our Lord Jesus in the Gospel of Luke give us a most amazing teaching recently at Sunday Mass: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you...Do to others as you would have them do to you...then...you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked” (Luke 6:27,32,35).
