Sister Parish Honduras

Sister Parish Honduras

Immaculada Concepcion in Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras
Holy Family Rockland began working with our sister parish, Immaculada Concepcion in Juticalpa, Olancho, Honduras in 1993. Honduras is the second largest country in Central America, and is also one of the poorest.
Believing that education is the key to a brighter future for the Honduran people, each year between Thanksgiving and the middle of January, we run the BECAS drive (Bringing Education, Christianity and Scholarship).   Donations are sent to Honduras to support the education of the children, especially those children with special needs.
In 2007, Holy Family formed the Hands to Honduras Mission outreach program. Since then thirteen teams, totaling  forty-seven parishioners have made the annual parish sponsored trip to Honduras. Those of us who have participated return home with a burning desire to share our experiences and to return to Honduras again and again.
Over the years, Holy Family has sent eyeglasses, toothbrushes, school supplies, uniforms, books and desks to Honduras along with hundreds of pounds of basic necessities. The mission teams sponsor a Fall Dance, Pancake Breakfast with Santa and Spaghetti Supper to support the programs and activities for their visit to Honduras.
